DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF WYOMING? YES!

Wyoming does not pre-approve continuing education programs or sponsors and they DO NOT have sponsorship agreements. They will accept courses from NASBA sponsors. Professional Education Services, LP (PES) is registered with NASBA (#103592) on the National Registry of CPE sponsors and has issued credits in the state of Wyoming without any problems.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

  • 120 hours/3 years (rolling 3 year calendar period, meaning that at every annual renewal the CPA must be able to show completion of 120 hours over the past three years ending December 31st).
  • Minimum of 80 hours (in the 3 year period) in TECHNICAL - Code A subjects - see below.
  • Maximum of 40 hours (in the 3 year period) in NON-TECHNICAL - Code B subjects - see below.
  • 4 CPE credits of Ethics every three years - the course must be approved by the board of accountancy. Visit the Board's website for a listing of approved ethics providers.

LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:

  • Expires annually on 12/31.

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

  • Completed by 12/31 annually.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time. Wyoming recognizes the same credit measurement.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

CODE A - TECHNICAL Areas of study include: accounting and auditing, business law, administrative practice, regulatory ethics, business management and organization, finance (financial planning), management advisory services, marketing, economics, specialized knowledge and applications, statistics, taxes, computer science or software application.

CODE B - NON-TECHNICAL Areas of study include: behavioral ethics, communication, personal development, personnel and human resource. Other areas of study are acceptable if they contribute to the professional competence of the CPA

NASBA FIELD OF STUDY SYNOPSIS: NASBA fields of Study equate to an acceptable field of study listed by the WY Board. Therefore all codes on PES certificates of completion should be able to be reported for CPE purposes.
