DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI? YES!

Mississippi requires that all self-study courses be taken from sponsors registered under the NASBA QAS program. Professional Education Services, LP (PES) is registered with NASBA QAS Program (#103592) on the National Registry of CPE sponsors and has issued credits in the state of Mississippi without any problems.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

  • 40 hours per year (completed by 6/30)
  • Ethics: 4 CPE credit hours must be earned in a Board approved ethics course every three compliance and reporting periods (the current compliance ethics 3 year period is 7/01/2022 to 6/30/2025). The four hours must consist of one hour minimum Mississippi Law, Rules and Regulations. PES course 4630: Ethics and Professional Conduct for Mississippi CPAs (version G) has been designed and approved by the Board to meet the new specific ethics CPE requirements for the state of Mississippi for the compliance period 7/01/2022 to 6/30/2025.
  • No more than 20 hours CPE credit for personal development courses or classes may be claimed in a CPE compliance year.

LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:

  • Registrant must register annually by 12/31.

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

  • CPE must be completed annually by 6/30.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time. Mississippi recognizes the same credit measurement.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

The regulations state "the overriding consideration in determining whether a specific program qualifies as acceptable continuing education is that it must be a formal program of learning which contributes directly to the professional competence of an individual license."

NASBA FIELD OF STUDY SYNOPSIS: Mississippi requires self-study be from NASBA sponsors. Therefore, all of the current NASBA fields of study noted on PES certificates of completion should be able to be reported for CPE in Mississippi.
