DO PES COURSES QUALIFY FOR CPE IN THE STATE OF DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA? YES!

The District of Columbia will accept courses from NASBA sponsors. Professional Education Services, LP (PES) is registered with NASBA (#103592) on the National Registry of CPE sponsors and has issued credits in the state of District of Columbia without any problems.

LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION:

  • 80 hours of CPE every 2 years.
  • Ethics Requirement: 4 hours of ethics every reporting period. PES course 4405: Ethics and Professional Conduct for District of Columbia CPAs can be used to fulfill this requirement.
  • In addition, general ethics is acceptable. If you are dual licensed, you can fulfill the requirement through another state specific ethics requirement or through a combination of ethics courses (e.g. if you are also a Virginia licensee, you could take the VA ethics course for 2 credits and then #4200 for 2 credits)

LICENSE EXPIRATION INFORMATION:

  • Registrant must register biennially by 12/31 on even years.

CPE COMPLETION DUE BY:

  • CPE must be completed by 12/31 of renewal year.

SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS:

Credits granted for PES courses are based on the AICPA and NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) statement of standards which grant 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time. District of Columbia recognizes the same credit measurement.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SELF STUDY CREDITS: 100%
ACCEPTABLE AREAS OF STUDY:

Specific areas designated: accounting and auditing; taxation; management; computer science; communication arts; mathematics, statistics, probability and quantitative applications in business; economics; business law; function fields of business including: finance, production, marketing, personnel relationship, and business management and organization; specialized areas of industry; administrative practice; and professional ethics. PLEASE NOTE: regulations states that credit may be granted by the Board for subjects other than those specified in the regulations if the licensee can demonstrate that the subjects contribute to professional competence - limited to 25% of the total hours required.

NASBA FIELD OF STUDY SYNOPSIS: The fields of study listed by the Board can be equated to a NASBA field of Study. Therefore, all fields of study noted on PES certificates of completion can be reported on the DC CPE renewal form.
